When I first discovered blogs in undergrad, my favorite posts have always been the “What’s in my bag” entries. Not only do you get to find great new products you might not have know about, but it actually gives a lot of insight into who that person is! These items are incredibly personal and vary wildly person to person. I mean, after all, these are the items that we carry around daily! The items that we just can’t leave home without.
I figured it was only appropriate for my first post to be “What’s in my bag.” My phone, wallet, and keys will be givens of course, so I will just focus on the other items! Running to the grocery store? Brunch date with a friend? Teaching flute lessons at a high school? You better believe these things are in my bag for all of them! I am so excited to share my daily essentials, and hope that you might find something new to love! If you try or currently use any of the products I mention below, please let me know and tell me what you think!

Planner & Pen
I always keep a book with me to read between students and on lunch breaks. Currently reading: The Tales of Beedle The Bard!
PAZEO EYEDROPS & ZYRTEC
I have absolutely horrible allergies. Living in Austin especially during cedar season is completely miserable (or anytime I’m around cats or dust). After I had allergy testing done, my doctor came in and said, “So you know those people who say they are allergic to everything, but they are really just exaggerating? Well, congratulations! You actually are allergic to everything.” …GREAT! (can you feel my eye roll from there?) Thankfully I’m able to keep my allergies pretty well under control, but MAN when they decide to flare up, it’s bad. Like I look and sound like I just straight up have the flu, that’s how bad. So I always always always have a bottle of Zyrtec and Pazeo eyedrops with me. The Pazeo is prescription, but you guys, I swear by this stuff. It is honestly SO. GOOD. The drops are actually able to get down into your sinuses through the tear ducts, so most days I just use this and don’t even need to take a Zyrtec! Since it is a prescription, your eye doctor, primary care doctor, or allergist can prescribe it to you. Make sure you ask for the coupon though, otherwise it will be almost $300 (yes, even with your insurance). But seriously, if you have allergies, you need this in your life.
As a music teacher, I am often teaching long hours without any breaks. So when I do get breaks, I am always starving! I always have a couple snacks thrown into my purse, usually some type of protein bar (my favorite is The Perfect Bar, a banana or some clementine oranges, and a piece of Dave’s 21 Whole Grain Bread with some almond butter! Like I said, I like to be prepared.
A Bottle of Water
Stay hydrated, my friends!
Always trying to avoid getting sick!
A packet of Emergen-C
Can you tell I’m serious about trying to avoid getting sick?
All the sanitizing and hand washing dries out my hands! I’ve been obsessed with the scent “Fiji White Sands” from Bath and Body Works! I think they only have it during the summer, so stock up! It’s SO. GOOD.
Burt’s Bees Lip Balm
Honestly, I probably own at least five Burt’s Bees lip balms at any given time. One in my purse, one on my nightstand, one in my flute bag, one in my bathroom, and one in my vanity for backup. As a flute player, I can get a little obsessive about my lips, especially keeping them moisturized. Out of all the lip balms I’ve tried, this is the one I always keep coming back to!
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner
Most girls have a favorite beauty product that they will purchase multiples of in a search to find that Holy Grail product. For me, this product is eyeliner. I have tried every single liner out there. Liquid, pencil, gel, drugstore, high end, indie brand….you name it, it is shoved into my eyeliner drawer (yes, you read that right, I have an actual entire drawer full of eyeliners. Not like a dresser drawer, it’s an IKEA Alex drawer, but still. #excessive #Iknow). The Stila Stay All Day is my Holy Grail eyeliner. It legitimately is waterproof, it doesn’t smudge or transfer, it’s super long lasting, and has a sharp enough point that you can do a great wing. This eyeliner just permanently lives in my purse. I rarely have time in the morning to put on makeup before I leave the house, so on days I do wear makeup, I end up putting it on in my car (as you will notice by the various beauty products that are on this list)!
Better than Sex Mascara by Too Faced
Need I say more?
Prep and Prime Lip by MAC Cosmetics
Another Holy Grail product! I can not wear a liquid lip without using this as a base. It moisturizes my lips and allows me to wear my lipstick all day without it getting that super drying feeling.
Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick
This is my favorite liquid lip formula. I always have at least one shade thrown into my purse (usually it’s more like two or three). You just never know when the mood for a bold or sassy lip will strike! I like to be prepared. My three favorite shades are Patina (my favorite neutral lip color), Aria (a gorgeous dark magenta), and fiery (my go to red lip).
Youth To The People Kale and Spinach Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Age Prevention Moisture Cream
(jeez talk about a mouthful…)
I have dry skin, so I always have a face moisturizer with me. Usually it is a small sample size of something I received in a Birchbox or from Sephora, but this is my current fave, so I’ve just been carrying it around with me. Now that I only have two years to go before the big 3-0, I am starting to be more conscious of age prevention, so I really like that this has Hyaluronic Acid in it. I also love that it is created with more natural ingredients and formulated without any of those bad things like sulfates, parabens, and phthalates (and no animal testing yay!). I always try to be conscious of the products I am putting on my skin, since it is directly absorbed. This stuff also smells amaze!
Reviver Freshening Swipe
I liked these before they got famous on Shark Tank. Very hipster of me, I know. I received one in a Birchbox forever ago and was actually super confused by it at first. So, these are technically clothing fresheners. It’s a tiny little reusable scented pad that you can rub over clothes to “freshen” them. BUT. I discovered they also have another use. You guys, these remove deodorant marks. You when you put on a shirt and then look down and there are white deodorant marks all over it and you’re like, “Ugh great now I have to change my shirt, I can’t go to work with deodorant marks all over me.” NOPE not anymore! Use the Reviver and it wipes right off! This trick has saved me so many times. You’re welcome.
And those are my essentials, babes! What are your daily must haves?
